Day 4 of My Redemption Journey: Have NO Fear - Embracing Imperfections

Day 4 of my redemption journey - Embracing imperfection in action! 🌟 #SelfImprovement #ProgressNotPerfection

Today is Saturday. Normally on a Saturday I would have the blues playing (all blues Saturday on WDIA or from 9 am – 2 pm on 103.5) and I would be around here cleaning, at my desk working or at a meeting (two already scheduled for later this afternoon). But today is the first Saturday of my journey and I had to switch some things up – FOR REAL.

Eddie Pinero (Your World Within) was on deck most of the morning, followed by an impressive playlist (thanks @Keyviadavis) that I have now deemed my 29 Day Redemption Journey Soundtrack.

Journals and Recipe Books on Kitchen Island - Embracing Imperfection
My journals and recipe books on the kitchen island - Where ideas meet inspiration! 📚✨ #CreativeSpace #InspirationCorner

I moved from my office to the kitchen island. I did not bring work with me, only my journals and a couple of recipes books I am looking at. I found myself trying to create the “perfect” space to write and meditate. After about five minutes, I came to myself and found myself embracing my imperfections. My inner voice said, “girl, sit your behind down and just DO it.” I laughed. I have been here before. Do you find yourself spending more time trying to create the “perfect” situation to do something, than you do on the actual “work” of doing something? Took you all day to “prepare” to do it but you only spent 30 minutes doing it. For me, that stopped today.

I spent over two hours working on my menu for the next week. Made my shopping list, ordered food online at Whole Foods. Praying about this “healthy” food budget. I do not eat a lot of vegetables RAW; I like to “nuke” them a bit in the oven, but I must start eating more raw vegetables. Nuts are healthy snacks and is used in a lot of these recipes I am looking at. I had to google “how to eat nuts with braces on your teeth.” Guess what? I will not be eating nuts right now. I am still paying for this mouth, so I am going to learn how to love almond butter.

My other challenge is the avocado and no, I do not eat guacamole (I call it the green stuff). This is something I need to eat because the health benefits outweigh my dislike, so I bought two of them to start with. I must call somebody to find out how to “open” it. I have managed to eat one sweet potato a day since I started this journey and I plan to do the same with the avocado starting Monday. I am going to really try my best friends – this avocado got your girl in a panic.

So, this is what I have going on for next week: smoothie or oatmeal for breakfast; a big salad for lunch and dinner (without meat or the nuts); and eat fruit or drink (via my juicer) fresh vegetables every day between meals. That is the plan.
